Vertical School
Arthur Phillip High School, Parramatta — a vertical school exploring alternate educational practices, circulation and flexible space in a dense urban site.

Digital Architecture Research Studio (MARC 4003). The project responds to the need for alternate educational practices in an urban context — how pedagogy and built space feed into each other, and how dense neighbourhoods call for vertical expansion.
Two problems drove the design: circulation within the built mass, and adaptability of spaces to support multiple activities. Precedent studies and parametric iteration were used to test stair configurations, floor division and facade development.
